“The new course of the Geneva Golf Club was opened in 1973. The course was designed by my father in the late 1960’s at the invitation of the great cartoonist and golf enthusiast Hank Ketcham, who introduced us to the President of the Club at the time, the attorney Pierre Turrettini. The Club moved from its then location to the beautiful estate that now houses it in Vandoeuvres. It was a small site for a modern 18-hole course – with a routing that was exceptionally well designed by my father. I was apprenticed to him at the time and helped him with the construction in modest ways. My father’s design optimized all of the available space and took advantage of the picturesque surroundings of this ideally lo- cated golf site. The strategic golf holes rest on gently rolling terrain in fragrant woods with wonderful views of the Alps, dominated by Mont-Blanc in the distance, while also over- looking the sparkling Lake Geneva to the West. The hole-by-hole routing flows with the natural landscape. It is an exceptionally strategic layout that was expertly detailed by my father. I have thoroughly enjoyed respecting my father’s design concepts while recently refreshing the golf course and updating its features to be in keeping with today’s game. It is a members club which never fails to engage the imagination of golfers of all skill levels.”
